Scams
Phone Scams
: If someone calls you, saying they are from Microsoft, or Logitech, or Apple, telling you that you have a problem with your computer, or that they want to return money to you, it is a scam. Hang up.

Payments:
Scammers will often ask to be paid via gift cards, or direct wire transfer, or by physically sending money through the mail. In all cases it is a scam. Disengage.

Bank scams:
Never, ever, log in to your bank account while someone else is connected to your computer ... unless you want to lose your money.

Timeshare or "Fractional ownership":
These are nearly always scams. The problems include:
Overpriced items. The timeshare sellers might try to sell you a timeshare property for $20,000, but a similar property is available for purchase on ebay for $200, or even $1, since people can't even give these properties away.
Maintenance costs and fees are the big killer, and you have no control over how much the fees will rise every year. You may end up spending thousands of dollars per year on "maintenance".
You will probably never be able to use the property at the time you want to use it.
There are many problems involved with 50 different people owning the same property.
Beware of the
points
deals, as these are deliberately made complicated in order to confuse you, and the points become increasingly worthless.
Never borrow money to buy a timeshare, and especially don't borrow through the timeshare company.
If you are rushed to make a decision, you will make a wrong decision.
If they are reluctant to tell you the price it is because the price is way too much.
