The Middle Way is not meant as balance. It is not meant as avoiding or combining extremes like being happy / sympathetic with being cranky, afraid, or depressed. It is not meant as avoiding logical distinctions via a fuzzy uncertainty.
The Middle Way is the logical result of not believing that distinctions and boundaries are inherent in reality. One doesn't take positions as if they're real and fixed.
