Headlights/Taillights
You can often get very cheap, new genuine headlights and taillight units on eBay - usually cheaper than at a wrecker.

Always carry spare brake and headlight globes and a set of spare fuses especially for your Stop and Back fuses (i.e. brake and reverse lights). You could be hundreds of kilometers from home and lose one or all of your brake lights (with a fuse burnout), potentially causing a crash.
Check the function of all lights monthly, with a friend for brake lights.

If the headlights don't work, check the fuses and fusible links in the fuse box in the engine compartment. If these look fine, the problem is either wiring or the switch itself. To replace the switch, remove the steering column cover, pull out the electric connector plug, and unscrew the switch.
