Psychology (the study of the psyche/soul, or mind) relies on a fundamental idea of sanity. Sanity means health. So the first goal of psychology is to define a healthy mind. Without this, there can be no workable concepts of disease or dysfunction.   kellyjones00 (593)

Psychology should not rely on empirical evidence to define sanity, such that sanity is how a human acts and speaks when at peak biological health. Rather, sanity is how a human thinks, when said thoughts are aligned with what is ultimately real.   kellyjones00 (593)

Mental realms are states of mind, separated for convenience according to typical thoughts and behaviour.   kellyjones00 (593)

Main > Psychology > Mental realms > Hell
About the hell realm:

One's self-image is very fragile. The world is one giant monstrous horror. One feels beset on all sides by demons and an unbearable pain that seems like it will never end. To get out of hell, one needs to imagine the self is so huge that it encompasses everything. Then time will slow down, the mind will stop racing in fear, and things will connect.   kellyjones00 (593)

Main > Psychology > Mental realms > Longing
About the longing realm:

One's self-image is virtually a minus, like a sucking black hole. The world appears bleak, dark and flattened of sensation. Emotions rule: dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety, fear, loneliness, guilt, anger, and so on. One blames everything, yet only seeks outwardly for solutions (usually vague and untrustworthy fantasies). To get out of the realm of longing, the mind needs to learn the skill of thinking logically. The more true thoughts, the less emotion, since emotions are false thoughts.   kellyjones00 (593)

Main > Psychology > Mental realms > Conflict
About the conflict realm:

One's self-image is active against the world, which appears passive by comparison. Thoughts are driven by goals, rewards and punishments. Those in the conflict realm include high-achievers in business, government, and academia, who feel pride and a sense of positive satisfaction, yet an underlying anxiety nevertheless rules. Others in this realm include the jealous wannabees and critics, who suffer more dissatisfaction. Because of the two competitive states, few in this realm have enough perspective to transcend it. But to get out of the realm of conflict, the mind needs to value reason and truth, over worldly comforts and rewards.   kellyjones00 (593)

Main > Psychology > Mental realms > Animal
About the animal realm:

One's self-image is very small but secure as one of a herd. The mind is dominated by emotional wants for food, comfort, shelter, company, and sex. With desires satisfied, there is no interest in anything else. Most humans are in this realm. To leave it, one must cultivate in dead earnest, a burning passion for the truth, a hard ball of doubt, and an unfaltering determination to follow through on one's purpose for all one's living days.   kellyjones00 (593)

Main > Psychology > Mental realms > Genius
About the genius realm:

One's self-image is seemingly infinite, and effortlessly confident. Imagination and ability to realise ideas is extraordinary. One tends not to suffer. There is an atypical kind of bliss, not emotional but intellectual. Thoughts are logical, powerful, and seem to conduct the sensory world. Emotional desires are weak, but far from dead. This is a very rare realm, achieved only after much effort in valuing consciousness, reason, truth and overcoming false thoughts in oneself. However, it is still far from the highest realms of sanity and mental health, as one suffers still from egotistical thoughts and feelings. To grow up from the genius realm requires an uncompromising, daily effort to make truthfulness one's whole being.   kellyjones00 (593)

Main > Psychology > Mental realms > Wisdom
About the wisdom realm:

There is no self image, or rather, all self images with no attachment to any. The mind is simple, calm and effortless. One is free from suffering, because thoughts are true to the form-freedom of Reality. Because of the freedom from attachment to things, the wisdom-dweller usually looks like a male unemployed dole-bludger, and may also be one in real life. Virtually unheard of these days. Conventional psychology, which does not value thinking logically for oneself, would classify the marvel of this realm as being schizoid, autistic, slightly psychotic, depressive, and so on.   kellyjones00 (593)
