Beards
Beard trimmers
are easier to use than scissors, as you can adjust trimmer settings to cut hair at various lengths. Set your beard trimmer to a longer hair length if you're new to using one - you don't want to cut too much at first.

Wet your hair
slightly before trimming, this makes the hair softer and easier to cut. And remember that wet hair is longer than dry hair.

Moisturiser
can help keep the skin healthy, and this is especially the case for men who shave their face, as shaven skin will dry out more quickly than skin protected by hair.

Using an electric razor
:
1.
Keep your electric razor clean and lubricated.
2.
Shave against the grain of your hair.
3.
Use a pre-shave lotion to avoid dry skin.

Shaving
Shaving with a razor (blade)
:
1.
Wet your face first with hot water, and then use a lather of shaving cream to keep the hairs moist.
2.
Always shave with the grain if possible. This helps you avoid razor burn and in growing hairs.
3.
Always use plenty hot water when shaving as this open pores which helps bristle stand up.
4.
Dispose blades after 2-3 shaves. Old blades spoil a good shave and drag which can cause razor burn.
5.
Use cold water to rinse afterwards. This helps keep the blood out of your pores, and the swelling down.
6.
Always moisturise after shaving. This helps protect and feed your skin preventing early lines and wrinkles.

Keep your razor blade sharp
: To make your safety razor blade last for a very long time store it in a small dish of cooking oil or wipe the blades with cooking oil after using it. It is the oxidation of the blade that makes the blade seem dull. The coating with oil will prevent oxidation by keeping out the oxygen. Another alternative is "Tilex" or equivalent shower tile cleaner - it keeps the blade like new by getting rid of skin buildup, soap deposits and oxidation on the blades, and also does not hurt the lubricating strip in a Sensor blade the way alcohol does.

Facial Hair:
A razor can be used to remove unwanted hairs from your face. It's much faster & less painful than tweezing.
